As if the build-up to a Champions League final wasn’t nervous enough now Real Madrid fans have got to contend with a Cristiano Ronaldo injury scare.

The three-time Ballon d’Or victor came off at half-time of Real Madrid’s final game of the La Liga season at Deportivo La Coruna 10 days ago having scored twice in the first half to take his tally for the season to 51.

The former France playmaker, who was promoted from Real’s reserve team to replace Rafa Benitez in January, steered the side to a runners-up finish in La Liga and Saturday’s final in Milan.

The forward has won the Champions League earlier in 2008 with Manchester United and in 2014 against Atletico Madrid.

“He has everything that a coach needs but above all, he knows his team and his players well, which is the most important thing”, Zidane told a news conference on Tuesday. “It’d be great if we could play together”.

Kick-off at the San Siro on Saturday is set for 20:45.

“I think it’s the season where I’ve played the most minutes, and taking out this problem from training I am at my best”.

“I hope he’ll have the chance to do something at the Euros”.

Simeone led Atletico to their second Champions League final in three years.

“The desire I have to learn is tremendous and I am convinced I am going to improve”, he said.

Pepe said that it will be a 50-50 game against Simeone’s men.
