Zidane Says ‘the Ball’ Will Decide Real Madrid’s Qualification

The 26-year-old joined the club from Tottenham in a deal worth a reported €100 million in 2013 and won the Champions League in his first season, scoring in the final against Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid now must win at Bernabeu, which shouldn’t be a problem, but they need to win big in order to move on to the semi-final and the possibility of hoisting their 11 Champions League trophy.

The Belgian picked his spot perfectly with 14 minutes remaining, firing past goalkeeper Kevin Trapp as PSG went out at the quarter-final stage for the fourth successive season.

“There are tough moments like the first leg, but we need to use our heads because in football anything can happen”.

With Wolfsburg protecting their 2-0 advantage from the first leg, Real Madrid quickly went on the attack, with Sergio Ramos’ looping header striking the top of the bar.

Zidane will be able to count on Benzema on Tuesday, though, as Madrid look to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat.

But he has silenced his critics with three goals in the 3-2 aggregate success, the team’s most important game of the campaign.

“We’ve got nothing to hide, we know how we want to play tomorrow and it’s up to us to be as effective as we can”, Laurent Blanc said.

“We have great respect for Real Madrid and this stadium but, despite all that, we also deserve respect due to the first leg”. Now we can just try to win every game between now and the end of the season’. We’re going to prepare well, rest up and play at our best on Tuesday.

“Everyone knows we are not playing perfectly in our own league but we are doing very well in the Champions League, said Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking”.

“We are proud. We deserved to get here”.

“The fans supported us and gave us a lot of strength to win a match that was complicated”.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic prodded home late on but the Swedish striker’s effort was ruled out for offside and epitomised a disappointing performance by the Ligue 1 champions.

“I feel good and satisfied”, he said, before referring to a shoulder problem which hampered him earlier in the campaign.
