In addition to children included in the expanded guidelines, any pregnant woman who has visited Zika-affected areas or whose sexual partner has traveled to those areas should be tested, the Health Department said.

Florida health officials have identified four new local cases of the Zika virus in Miami. Harris County has reported 31 Zika cases, including 14 in Houston.
The department said it continues to believe that the local transmissions of the virus are occurring in one area of Miami-Dade County.
After traveling to countries having active Zika transmissions, all three residents became ill and experienced mild symptoms, according to county officials, and all fully recovered after receiving treatments. “Both men and women of childbearing age should take precautions if they have recently traveled, or plan to travel, to a location where Zika is spreading”, Dr. Smith said. “And when you present it in the context of Zika or any prenatal condition, it’s a difficult question and a hard one”, Rubio told POLITICO on August 6. But Jarnutowski said not every community has a lot of children and more needs to be done to educate the public about the risks of the Zika virus.
“We definitely want everyone in Merced County to be as aware and knowledgeable about Zika”, said Richard Rios, public health program manager for the Department of Public Health. Furthermore, health experts are encouraging that all US citizens use preventative measures, such as the use of an EPA-registered mosquito repellant containing DEET, IR3535, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
“Congress has failed to act”, says Scott.
Florida officials have started taking measures to kill mosquitoes to prevent any further increase in the number of people getting affected by Zika virus.
“During the first week or so of infection, Zika virus can be passed from an infected person to another mosquito through mosquito bites”.
The state also requested a team from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to aid in the response. Two of the cases in Georgia are pregnant women.

“This disease goes beyond microcephaly, with other symptoms such as visual and hearing impairment, and unusual signs and symptoms different from other congenital infections, such as arthrogryposis and no microcephaly”. Texas has reported 97 cases of the disease, including the two infants.
