Zika no Curry worry as LeBron, Irving undecided on Rio

“I knew the developments and kind of understanding the problem with the Zika virus, but it had no bearing on my decision”, Curry said. Like Curry, Chris Paul, Anthony Davis and Blake Griffin also opted out of the honor of representing the team in an worldwide arena due to injuries, according to USA Today. So unless they can clean up their switching scheme quickly and limit the amount of careless breakdowns, the Warriors will continue to win without Curry or Thompson putting up their usual scoring numbers.

“If I couldn’t vote for somebody on my own team I’d probably vote for a guy like (Russell Westbrook)”.

“My previous experiences with USA Basketball have been incredibly rewarding, educational and enjoyable, which made this an extremely hard decision for me and my family”, Curry said.

There is a training camp scheduled for July, but managing director Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski have said they will name a 12-person team by the end of the month and Thompson is likely to make the roster.

“Obviously we are disappointed but we understand and we are fully supportive of his decision”, Colangelo said in a statement.

Curry said Zika fears didn’t factor into his decision.

The comments may also seem odd considering that Curry was named the NBA’s first-ever unanimous MVP this season, a year in which he averaged 30.1 points per game on 50.4 percent shooting.

“It would be an honor to play for Team USA and I’d love to go to Brazil”.

He could have been the team’s biggest star in Rio, with Kobe Bryant retired and LeBron James still uncommitted. The Golden State Warriors star cited his previous injuries as the main reason behind his decision.

“It’s an incredible honour to represent your country and wear “USA” on your chest, but my primary basketball-related objective this summer needs to focus on my body and getting ready for the 2016-17 NBA season”, Curry said.

Curry missed four games in their post-season run after spraining his right knee but returned to action on May 9 to help the Warriors take a 2-0 lead over Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

Some miscommunication between Smith and Irving leaves Andre Iguodala slipping backdoor unguarded, and nobody is in position to protect the rim with Love closing out on Curry’s midrange pull-up. He is in the midst of his sixth straight Finals appearance, playing deep into the summer while others begin their recovery earlier.
