One of the many concerns surrounding this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is the Zika virus, a mosquito-borne disease that is prevalent in Brazil.

Speraw said the idea of freezing sperm has bounced around with other USA coaches and officials, and even some of his players, many of them married.

New York, N.Y. An expert panel of the World Health Organization (WHO) today concluded that while the Zika virus and its associated disorders continue to be a public health emergency of global concern, there is a “very low” risk of further worldwide spread of the virus as a result of the upcoming Olympic Games.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. Rio organizers will distribute 450,000 condoms to athletes, three times as many as were handed out at the London Games in 2012, largely in response to Zika.

Spain hasn’t selected its Olympic team yet, but Gasol would more than likely be on the country’s short list. Great Britain long jumper Greg Rutherford said the same thing since the Zika Virus can cause microcephaly in babies once the mother is infected.

The visit was Temer’s first to the Olympic Park, in Rio’s western Barra da Tijuca neighborhood, since assuming the presidency, and it is expected to be Bach’s final visit ahead of the August 5-21 games, which have also seen lackluster ticket sales and worries about the readiness of a promised – and crucial – metro extension as well as the velodrome.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says athletes and fans heading to Brazil for the Rio Olympics are not likely to spur an global Zika outbreak and travel to countries dealing with the mosquito-borne virus should not be restricted.

“This is the first confirmed case in California where Zika virus was transmitted sexually”, CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer Karen Smith said in a statement released ending March.

“We will collaborate not just with words, but also with financial (help)”, Brazil’s acting president Michel Temer told reporters at Olympic Park on Tuesday. World Health Organization says everyone traveling to Rio for the Olympics-with the exception of pregnant women-should be fine.
