Briand, asked about several suspected cases of Zika spread by sex or by blood transfusion, said mosquitoes remained the “main route”.
Ospina says the cases confirm that Zika can cause deaths – though most global experts are still cautious about whether Zika can trigger Guillain-Barre.
The discovery, they said, amounts to “new paradigms for the understanding of transmission routes of the Zika virus”.
