If person-to-person transmission is possible, then that means Zika could linger in the air after an infected person has breathed, coughed or sneezed – greatly increasing the ways someone could get infected.

“We are a mobile society and people travel to areas where Zika may be prevalent, so we may see more cases in our community” Turner said. To date, the 12 cases confirmed in our state are associated with travel to a country or region with ongoing Zika virus transmission.
Florida has had 326 confirmed Zika virus cases in Florida this year, including 43 pregnant women.
Typically, the Zika virus doesn’t cause serious illness. WebMD reported that some symptoms of Zika virus include “a fever, joint pain, and red eyes, (known as conjunctivitis)”.
They will be interviewing and testing family members of the carer and any health care workers who may have had contact with the deceased man.
