Zinedine Zidane denies ‘rift’ with Cristiano Ronaldo

Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is expecting Portugal talisman Cristiano Ronaldo in top form when his side host Champions League winners Real Madrid at the Signal Iduna Park tonight.

Following a handball call against Cristiano Ronaldo from an early free-kick, the Portuguese star rallied to fire home for Real from just outside the six-yard box after being found by a clever back-heel from Gareth Bale on 17 minutes.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled after keeper Keylor Navas’s error, but Raphael Varane restored Real’s lead before Schurrle’s thumping strike.

But the French global defender enjoyed second-half redemption when he stabbed home on 68 minutes before Dortmund levelled in the dying stages.

Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund will air live Tuesday on FS1, with coverage starting at 2 p.m. ET.

The entire team looked lackluster against Las Parmas, Zidane said, but he declined to blame either the attack or the defense on the 2-2 result. “It’s not a bad result, but playing like we did, with chances we had and being 1-2 up with three minutes to go…”.

Recall that the three-time Balon d’Or victor was substituted in the 72nd minute of Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Las Palmas and he immediately showed deep frustration by his failure to score in the game.

“We played well from the first to the 90th minute”.

But it was Real which moved ahead once more with Ronaldo once again at the heart of the move.

“Their first goal is a bit of bad luck because the ball hits me in the face”. In the last minute of the first half, Cristiano scored from a header but he was in offside.

Raphael Guerreiro sent a long free kick right at the Costa Rican, who chose to punch it away, but it came back toward him off Varane’s head and Aubameyang was on hand to push it over the line.

The ball rebounded into the net off the unfortunate Varane with Aubameyang in close proximity, although the Gabon striker was officially given the goal.

It was no more than Dortmund deserved after a thrilling encounter between two sides rarely shy in going forward.
