Zinedine Zidane Looks to Keep Real Madrid on a Roll

Roberto Carlos will reportedly meet with the Real Madrid board on Friday to discuss which role he will take at the Bernabeu. Diaz in AS, Atleti are looking to sign Griezmann onto a new deal which will include a €100 million (£76 million) release clause, while he has “given a gentleman’s agreement not to consider offers from any other club, Real Madrid included, for two years”.

Real Madrid will be bidding to put their off-pitch troubles behind them when they take on Sporting Gijon at the Bernabeu. “Soon I will know how I can collaborate with Zidane’s Madrid”, the 42-year-old said in an interview to Spanish language publication Punto Pelota on Tuesday.

Despite Madrid’s interest, they may lose out to rivals Barcelona, with the Express confirming that Pogba has admitted he would love the chance to play with Lionel Messi.

Back on pitch and Zinedine Zidane will want to build on his side’s impressive 5-0 victory against Deportivo in his first match as manager following the dismissal of Rafael Benitez.

After resting some players in the 2-0 win over Espanyol in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, coach Luis Enrique is expected to field the team’s regular starters when Barcelona hosts eighth-place Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. “(Guus) Hiddink succeeded because he made the workouts fun and did not put them under too much pressure”, he added. I think he will be very successful in Madrid. “Before he moved to Barcelona [from Santos in 2013] I already spoke with him about [a potential move to Real Madrid]”.

Being one of the best midfielders in the world does however come at a price, with another three and a half years left on his contract, Juventus will no doubt demand a bid in the region of £70million. I am sure that we can repeat something similar.
