Zlatan can be a phenomenon, says Mourinho

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has said that there is more to come from the Red Devils after their opening 3-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth.

Bournemouth had been disciplined at the back and looked set to finish the half on level terms until a costly blunder by Simon Francis handed United the lead.

Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney had scored the Red Devils’ first two goals to put Mourinho’s new side into a commanding position but it will be Ibrahimovic’s drive that will be remembered from the first day of a new era at Man United.

While there was little between the sides in a tight first half, United were by far the better team in the second period right from the off as Rooney got the better of Steve Cook to test Boruc from 15 yards out.

“On the first training session Pogba had with Juventus the players were laughing”, he told the Telegraph. “But it was important to start good”.

– Bournemouth have lost all six of their Premier League games played on a Sunday. A new environment, new stadiums, clubs, team-mates. I thought we played some good stuff, especially in the second half”, and said he believed that “there was some good build-up play and counterattack play. “He’s a target man but also has great feet”, and declared: “I just have to move off him and try to get to into the pockets of space that are available”. “But it’s the same importance whoever scores”.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic secured the win with the third on his Premier League debut, with Adam Smith grabbing a consolation. “We looked risky on the counter-attack and created chances”.

Having spent almost $200 million on new players and brought in former Chelsea manager Mourinho to replace Louis van Gaal, United will be expected to challenge for honors this season. There is a lot of excitement from ourselves and the fans.
