Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri says that he is “very pleased” with his side despite their defeat to Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley.

“We have good players, I don’t make us smaller than we are, but other teams have this role of being named as favourites to win the league, not Leicester City”.

The 34-year-old forward won his 31st career trophy with this year’s Community Shield conquest, which also marked his first competitive game for the Red Devils after featuring in two preseason matches.

“I think it’s an important victory but we have lots of work [to do]”. We aren’t ready yet to play as we did last season but we played well, especially in the second half. “With our team, something big is going on but we are at the beginning and we have started with a high”.

A goal of individual brilliance saw Jesse Lingard put United ahead before Jamie Vardy equalized for Leicester following a Marouane Fellaini mistake just after half-time. It is probably the biggest club I played in. “But I remember that I win this trophy because someone was here before me”. “I know the player he is, but you always have a question mark when a player comes to a new level”, Mourinho told BT Sport.

‘We want to win and everyone is happy in the end’.

Jose Mourinho takes it out on a player he doesn’t like.

“I would not be ambitious if I said we had a fantastic performance, because it was not a fantastic performance”.

Mourinho denied that he was unhappy with Mata’s display, saying: “He played very well”.

“Maybe in the first half we were a little shy but it was very very hot and was hard for us to press everywhere”.

I wouldn't swap careers with Ranieri, says Mourinho
