According to Sky Sports, the much-anticipated Zlatan debut could take place on Saturday night when United take on Galatasaray in Gothenburg.

He scored 50 goals in 51 matches in what was his final season at Paris Saint-Germain – his best ever goal return – while he retired from worldwide duty as the Blue Gold’s record scorer after Sweden’s European Championships exit at the group stage.

‘Everybody has been waiting for that moment, ‘ he told MUTV. To make my debut in my country, it will feel great.

“I think the fans are waiting for me to come back and they are waiting to enjoy not only me, but the team as well. It is still early in our preparations but we hope to give United a strong game”.

“The coach (Mourinho)- he is direct, he is concrete, he says what he wants and the players are adapting”. Mourinho is also likely to play more players in the team that he is likely to start the season with as he looks to get his team ready for the beginning of the Premier League season in two weeks. “So there are only positive things”. The first game that they played saw Mourinho’s side get thrashed 4-1 against Borussia Dortmund, before the game against Manchester City was called off due to the pitch being in a bad state after torrential rain.
