Speaking prior to Wayne Rooney ‘s testimonial, Jose Mourinho revealed that Manchester United ‘s captain is “in best period of his career”.

Everyday we’ve had reports that “today was the day” Paul Pogba would be leaving Juventus to complete his world record transfer to Manchester United.

“Should Man United make it clear they want him to stay beyond [2019], I think we’ll be sitting down very quickly and ensuring that will happen”. However, United didn’t look as threatening in attack as we’d have hoped, and just a couple of weeks before the start of the season, the coaching staff are running out of time to iron out United’s flaws.

Facebook is to set a sports streaming landmark by becoming the first company to stream a match between two English Premier League teams.

An immediate rapport between Ibrahimovic and Rooney was the most promising aspect of a United performance that showed the rigidity of the Louis Van Gaal era will not disappear at a stroke. “He works not only for himself, but for the striker and the whole team”. I am absolutely happy to be one of the guys beside him.

Rooney has announced that all proceeds from his testimonial will go to disadvantaged children and young people across the United Kingdom. “To give a certain balance to the squad, to give a certain push in terms of quality, and the qualities that I need, that I want, as we know especially with the ones with more vision”. “I always think that great players can play in any era”.

The only victor from the contest was perhaps Rooney, who reflected on a “special night to remember” after he took the pitch with his sons.

The United captain said: “He’s not someone who is going to come in – at the moment he hasn’t anyway – and start throwing things”.
