Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaves door open to Jose Mourinho reunion in Premier League

Jose Mourinho appears so set on securing the Manchester United manager’s position that he has been rejecting job offers from clubs in Italy and China.

When pressed on whether a move to the Premier League was imminent, Ibrahimovic refused to give an answer either way – only telling the assembled journalists cryptically: “Let’s just say I am in shape”.

PSG’s Qatari owners are in talks to buy a stake in David Beckham’s Miami Major League Soccer franchise, which Ibrahimovic is expected to join with the club aiming to start playing in the MLS in 2018.

The Portuguese boss remains close with the 6ft 5in striker from their time at Inter Milan and are said to regularly exchange text messages.

Mourinho branded Olsson a “Mickey Mouse” player in 2013 during a tunnel bust-up after Chelsea had earned a 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion with a controversial last-minute penalty. Our right-back against Midtjylland [Donald Love] has only played one match for the club but I know from that one match how he can apply himself.

Signing Ibrahimovic on a free transfer and handing him a one-year deal – even on wages above £200,000 per week – would be seen as making commercial as well as footballing sense. The gamble on Radamel Falcao failed.

And Mourinho could be the man to get the best out of him in England, as he waits for the United job.

For me, it is a move United have to make.

He made no effort to disguise his admiration for the Portuguese manager ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Paris, saying: “I think everybody will miss Mourinho in the game”.
