Zooey Deschanel’s daughter has predictably quirky first words
Zooey Deschanel learned this the hard way as she recently celebrated her daughter Elsie Otter’s first birthday.

Tuesday night. “My husband taught her how to say “cheese” just ’cause she likes cheese so much”. “This morning, I went in and it’s still dark in her room and she’s wearing her little jammies and still in her sleep sack and she goes, ‘more. cheese!'”
“I just kind of want to put it off because it makes them insane!”
Deschanel confirmed that “cheese” was one of Elsie’s first words along with “bubble”, “mama”, “dada” and one more very important word. She welcomed her baby girl with her producer husband Jacob Pechenik last July. “But it’s nice, you know, I think, having a little girl, she knows her mommy works and I think that’s a good thing”. She’s just so much fun. It looked like a cupcake. “No smashing!” she said.
She said: “[Elsie] “makes a lot of little, like, pterodactyl kind of noises. “Is that where you learned to make that crappy cake?” joked Kimmel. “But if she had, she would try to steal them”. Deschanel said she would let her daughter have sugar eventually, but not for some time.
While the actress was happy to get back to her character on the popular Fox sitcom, the break was helpful for mom and her mini-me.
The award-winning actress also told the presenter that she hoped to keep her daughter away from sugar and mobile phones for as long as possible. “She was not at all interested”.

“But she knows that when you have a phone you go, ‘Hello?’ and she’ll be like, ‘Heh-o?’ ” she adds with a laugh.
