Zoom in and out using one hand while recording videos on Instagram

As of this morning, Instagram Stories was updated on Android and iOS to include the zoom camera feature and on iOS devices you can double-tap the screen to switch cameras mid-post.

The update now allows users to zoom while recording a video by swiping up or down. It seems like Instagram isn’t afraid of taking Snapchat head-on. It further facilitates the option of switching between front and rear-facing cameras. Earlier this month, Instagram introduced Stories, which, unlike a traditional post, allows users to post several things from their day, and it disappears after 24 hours – a sort of over-sharing protection that’s not unlike Snapchat Stories. Both features are identical to their Snapchat counterparts.

“You can zoom back out by dragging down”.

The feature appears to function rather smoothly and as intended, so those who are making use of the stories feature a lot will likely appreciate the capability to now zoom with just one finger.

The latest update is being viewed as yet another copy of a Snapchat feature after the rollout of Instagram’s “Stories” format that clones Snapchat’s popular Stories feature.

The update is not exactly subtle, but Instagram is gunning for Snapchat and trying to lure as many Snapchatters to its platform as possible. Instagram also recently added in the ability to have text auto translated, a feature which was initially announced for the app back in June. Find us on Facebook too!
