The process is split into two stages: you can submit your ideas until August 31, following which there’s a voting period from September 1 – 10.

Announced back at CES 2016 and now called Project CSX, the Chinese company is asking users to head over to its Z-Community forum and submit ideas for a smartphone to be shipped sometime in 2017. Dubbed “CSX” for now, however the final product will have another name. In addition to credits, chosen suggestions will be also rewarded with cash prizes, although, the margin for winning is quite thin. Project CSX will have to stages: submitting ideas, and voting them. So the product can’t be something worth thousands of dollars worth of features and accessories. ZTE is ranked by independent industry analysts as the fourth-largest supplier of mobile devices in the US overall, and second-largest supplier of prepaid devices. “ZTE is an end-to-end telecommunications company and has the resources to develop all types of devices, not just smartphones”.
Submissions must also be unique, and ZTE said there will be methods to check if your idea has already been turned in.
Jeff Yee, senior vice president of technology planning and partnerships, said that the company “will see this project through”. Other than contributing to a device that lives up to your (very realistic) dreams, registered participants can get early access to the eventual product. It will also allow ZTE fans to leave their mark on a company product that they could potentially buy and actually use after its release. Mozilla also announced that their next logo will be user created in June.
