Adam Zeng, ZTE Mobile Devices Chief Executive Officer, said this on the new device: “The Spro Plus is ZTE Mobile Devices’ latest example of igniting digital life with imagination”. Its projector uses lasers to project at 500 lumens, and you can get an 80-inch image by placing the device 2.4 meters away from the surface that you want to project on. Business users will use it for presentations, with the additional perk of being able to share its Internet with everyone in the room.

The Spro Plus is, first and foremost, a portable, battery-powered, laser projector. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 801 or 625 processor, comes in both Wi-Fi and LTE variants with support for VoLTE, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. “The Spro Plus features an 8.4” AMOLED touch screen, 2K display, and a 12,100 mAh battery. It might be a bit chunkier than most standalone tablets, but in exchange for that added thickness, you’re gaining the ability to project whatever your looking at onto a wall, which could make the Spro Plus a more compelling entertainment option for some folks.
The Spro Plus also features a JBL Audio System, which includes audio outputs via two 4w speakers and a voice pickup via HARMAN sub-miniature microphones. Its ability to detect voices more than five meters from Spro Plus makes it easy to conduct group meetings in any location.
ZTE believes its new tablet/projector hybrid, called the ZTE Spro Plus, is so versatile that it can push out most of the above and become your second-most-used gadget, after the smartphone.
The Spro Plus will be available this summer, though we are not sure what markets are getting it. The pricing is a mystery as well. We don’t have the exact measurements, but it weighs around 1 kilogram, and is sized like a 10-inch tablet (albeit a very fat one).

ZTE Mobile Devices showcased Spro Plus at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today. There will eventually be an LTE-enabled model, but they’ll only be selling Wi-Fi models at launch.
