Zuccarello leads Rangers to 4-1 win over Senators in Game 3

If St Louis are to live to fight another day, they will have to find a way to get pucks past Pekka Rinne, whose.953 save percentage leads all playoff goalies. The Senators need to get on track because they’ve been overpowered by the Rangers, but they do have home ice advantage.

Chris Kreider’s second goal of the playoffs was the backbreaker for the Senators.

“I don’t even know what to say; we just have to be better all around”, current Senator and former Ranger Derick Brassard said after Thursday night’s 4-1 loss dropped Ottawa into a 2-2 series tie in the Eastern Conference semifinal.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, NY is favored at home in this game, as the Rangers are getting a money line of -170 to win.

Near the end of the period, Lindberg came back for more with a real gut-wrenching goal that eluded Senators goalie Craig Anderson. Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves for the win. And not the only depth forward doing work. Five and half minutes into play, Mika Zibanejad muscled his way into the Ottawa zone.

Ottawa by now had settled back into the malaise that had been Game 3. Zuccarello sent the puck along the boards on the left side behind the Ottawa net and Grabner got it, came out and put in a wraparound before Anderson, who had gone to his right, could recover. He misjudged the pace of the puck, however, allowing Grabner to gather it and stuff it into the open net before Anderson could get back to his crease. Had it not been for Anderson, it might have been worse.

In Canada – with the possible exception of Toronto – only the players wear suits to National Hockey League games. “You can’t really ask for more”.

It’s worth noting the Under has a very strong long-term track record in games between the Blues and Predators, cashing in at a 53-23-9 70% clip in the last 85 head-to-head meetings. “Tonight we had that and it was obviously a difference maker”. Stepan slid the puck over the Rick Nash who picked a spot and sniped it.

J.T. Miller (r.) and Tanner Glass (l.) celebrate one of Oscar Lindberg’s (c.) goals in the Rangers’ 4-1 win. In essence, according to Boucher, the Rangers just wanted it more, not wanting to go down 3-0 in the series. Karlsson finished with a shot and three attempted shots in 14:54 of ice time spanning the first two periods.

The Rangers stared at the abyss, and skated away.

The Rangers dominated the first 20 minutes, outshooting Ottawa 15-5, and were rewarded with two goals. They were forced into a lot of long-distance or clear-sighted shots.

“We’ve just got to understand the situation that we’re in, we’re still down 2-1, we’re playing a game in our own building”, Rangers defenseman and captain Ryan McDonagh said. It’s also possible taking painkillers because of some other injury, and that that’s affecting his performance. Though Ryan is expected to play in Game 4, Smith is listed as doubtful.

Rangers coach Alain Vigneault has appreciated the balanced scoring. Well, Pageau still scored with Glass in the lineup. “They’ll most probably display the exact same urgency as they did last game”. But in the last two, it’s been all Rangers.

“They had some good bounces going their way in Ottawa”, Lundqvist said on Tuesday.

For the Rangers, these were welcome changes. The Senators are going to make adjustments, but maintaining that pressure is still going to be key. He had 17 points in 76 games.

Shows of “character” and “emotion” can not mask the fact that Ottawa spent Thursday night playing very badly to allow a Rangers team that looked alright but hardly dominant to tie the series.
