Zuckerberg Invokes Jewish Heritage in Facebook Post Supporting Muslims

I want to add my voice in support of Muslims in our community and around the world.

FRANCIS: I think he is saying he’s sympathetic to Muslims but I think he’s really overplaying – like we’re welcoming, we’re not anxious about this – when really behind the scenes they are anxious and they are cooperating. “They want the most flexibility and they are going to use a wide variety of activities to achieve their mission”, Rachael Horwitz, a Facebook spokeswoman, said via email.

The comments come just days after Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump said Muslims should be barred indefinitely from entering the United States in the wake of the San Bernardino and Paris terror massacres.

He wrote that the group is “always” welcome at the company as it will “fight to protect your (Muslim) rights and create a safe and peaceful environment”.

Another big tech name, Eric Schmidt, also called for a crackdown on internet harassment.

Recently, Mr. Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan vowed to donate nearly all of their Facebook shares over the course of their lives to charity, to make this world a better place.

While many in the media tried to find signs of bad intentions in Zuckerberg’s recent announcement that he would sell off 99 percent of his Facebook stock, they largely failed. Rebukes from Democrats and media were swift and loud.

Though the majority praised the posting, there were some who criticized Facebook for not being quick enough to clamp down on anti-Muslim hate speech.
